Quickly, Jack dashed through the front doors and into the museum. Above him were several signs. One of them said “PIT 1.” Thinking he didn’t have time to be choosy, he followed the arrows. Before he knew it, he was standing on an elevated viewing platform in a massive, vaulted room.

The walkway he was standing on traveled in a square around the site, so that people could see the army from every angle. On the floor was the main army itself – 6,000 of the terracotta soldiers. As Jack stood there, wondering what to do, he heard Fong and Wong burst into the complex.

“We’re going to get you, kid!” screamed Fong.

“You can’t hide from us!” yelled Wong.

Jack had to act fast. The only way out of this was to go down into the pit itself, and try to lose them among the terracotta statues. Jack quickly lowered himself down. When he looked up, he found himself surrounded by some of the fiercest figures he’d ever seen.

Jack darted through the sculptures, trying to zigzag in a way that would confuse Fong and Wong. But from the elevated platform where they were standing, the two teenage boys could see everything. They soon lowered themselves down and continued the chase.
